Agiofaragos beach is located about 80 km south of the city of Heraklion, at the exit of Agiofaragos. To get here you must either cross the imposing gorge with easy hiking about 20-30 ‘from the nearest parking spot, or take a boat from Matala, Agia Galini or Kalous Limenes. On the way inside the “Gorge of the Saints” you will find large caves inhabited by ascetics and the church of Agios Antonios with the small well with glyph water and a little below the Goumenospili, where the hermits gathered.
The beach at the exit of the gorge is amazing, with fine pebbles and crystal clear waters, which are usually very calm. To the west, a natural arch is formed in the sea and just above, the imposing rocks of the Kapsala hill rise vertically. If you have sneakers with you, you can climb the rocks to the east of the beach and find yourself in the sea lake of Vourvoulitis that communicates underwater with the open sea.
